Great National Mulranny Park Hotel

Rich in history, the hotel lists John Lennon amongst its former guests. First opened for business in March 1897, this landmark hotel was originally built by the Midland Great Western Railway. Once known as the Great Western Hotel, the hotel became a famous destination during the lifetime of the railway between Westport and Achill.
Completely refurbished in the last 4 years, the hotel is now unrivalled in the area. The hotel boasts modern facilities including an elegant dining room, a lively bar and a relaxing lounge.
All guests can use the fully equipped leisure centre, free of charge. The leisure club features a spectacular 20-metre indoor heated swimming pool with wonderful natural light. Guests can relax in the jacuzzi and enjoy the breathtaking landscapes or experience the outdoor Canadian hot tub.

The hotel is located in the picture-perfect village of Mulranny, just 25 minutes from the town of Westport Town and only a few minutes from Achill Island.
With its Atlantic location, Blue Flag beaches and breathtaking mountain landscape, Mulranny is a superb location for outdoor activities and for water sports of all types.
The hotel’s romantic setting has also been an inspirational creative retreat for artists and writers, including, of course, John Lennon, who stayed here in the 1960s.
The local Blue Flag Beach is just a short walk away, via the causeway. This stunning beach looks out over Clew Bay, Croagh Patrick and Clare Island.
The area is well known for water sports (particularly surfing, sailing and diving), for excellent fishing (both freshwater and sea angling), for boat cruises and for hill walking and climbing.
Championship golf courses are located in Belmullet (Carne) just 45 minutes away, as well as in Westport, only 30 minutes away. For an easier round of golf, the local 9-hole golf course is just over half a mile (1 km) away.

The restaurant has received 2 AA rosettes for its high standards, the outstanding preparation of its food and the excellent quality of the ingredients it uses.
With a great atmosphere, mouth-watering food and spectacular views of Clew Bay, The Waterfront Bar & Bistro is a great place to relax on your own or with friends. You can enjoy a quiet drink out on the veranda, or in the colder months, you can relax by the open fires. The bistro menu is available daily from 12:30.
